As women, we take care of everyone in our lives, our spouses, children, parents, other family members and even our friends. However, we tend to neglect ourselves, especially when it concerns our health. Hi this is Jody Jo. It is very important to meet with your doctor if you have concerns about something going on in your body. As hard as it may be to fit a doctor\’s appointment into your busy schedules, please make the time to take care of your health. To learn more about women\’s health, visit KaweahDelta.org.

WOMEN\’S HEALTH MONTH FACTS
Women tend to be the caregivers for their entire family (parents, spouse, children, relatives, etc.) which often leads them to neglect their own health and wellness.
Kaweah Delta wants to encourage women to take charge of their health and wellness and be vigilant in taking care of themselves. How should women take care of their own health?
- Make sure to visit with your doctor at least once a year for an exam, any needed screenings (blood screens, mammogram, colonoscopy, etc) and to be proactive in detecting and treating any conditions as they come up.
- Get plenty of rest.
- Get moderate exercise, including a mix of cardio and resistance/weight-bearing exercise.
- Stop any fad dieting and focus on a nutritious balanced diet.
- Don’t smoke or use recreational drugs, and moderate your consumption of alcohol.
- Don’t neglect your mental health. See a counselor if you need to and find way to reduce your stress.
