Do you have a primary care doctor? Hi, this is Jody Jo. It is so important to have a primary care doctor you can turn to for health questions and concerns. Over time, you and your doctor can form a relationship and get to know each other better. This leads to better medical care by catching small health problems before they become serious. Importance of a Primary Care Physician – Talk to Your Doctor
March 30 is National Doctors\’ Day and in celebration Kaweah Delta encourages you to make sure you have a primary care physician and that you see them regularly, even if you consider yourself to be healthy. Patients that regularly see their primary care physician:
- Are shown to have better management of chronic diseases.
- Lower overall health care costs.
- Higher levels of satisfaction with their care.
- Have access to coordinated patient care (preventative care, screenings, treatment for acute illness and injury, and referrals to specialists and specialty services as needed)
- Have a better understand of their own medical history, which ensures that health care providers can more easily detect patterns in your health and recommend necessary lifestyle changes.
- Participate in routine testing which can reveal conditions earlier and as a result can receive care earlier, which may prevent complications and prevent a faster, more complete recovery.
